Tonya Flink, ex-Texas high school teacher, accused of having sex with at least four students, report says

(CBS) – A former Texas teacher was indicted last month over accusations that she had sexual relationships with at least four of her students, according to a search warrant affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram on Thursday.

Tonya Flink, a 39-year-old mother of three, began working as a computer teacher at Haltom High school in August 2007. She allegedly began having relationships with male students around Dec. 2010, the newspaper reported.

She was indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury on a charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student. Flink is scheduled for a hearing next week.

According to the affidavit, Flink continued having sexual relations with at least one student for several months. Parents of the student contacted Haltom City police in Sept. 2011 after he told them he was living with Flink.

The student, who had since graduated, told investigators in Sept. 2011 that he had been dating Flink since his senior year, according to the Star-Telegram. He said that he regretted being involved with the teacher and that it messed up his life.

Haltom City detectives discovered that Flink had sexual relationships with three other students, according to the affidavit. Two of those students refused to cooperate with authorities, the newspaper reported.

The affidavit said Flink resigned from Haltom High in Aug. 2011 because of the pending investigation. She landed a job as a health science terminology teacher at Carter Riverside High School in Sept. 2011, but she was suspended when parents from Haltom High contacted school officials.
